Abolish Slavery National Network
Media

Eight states. On the record.

Since 2018, eight states have removed the exception from their constitutions. This is how it was reported, state by state, and how the network carried the record beyond the states.

The count

Colorado 2018. Nebraska and Utah 2020. Alabama, Oregon, Tennessee, and Vermont 2022. Nevada 2024.

A removal is the beginning of enforcement, not the end of it. Colorado's first order came eight years after its vote.
